On May 6th, 2009, the senior leadership meeting was held at the North Shore - LIJ Center for Emergency Medical Services, in Syosset. The Center is "command central" for control and dispatch of NS-LIJ ambulance services and features a state of the art Communications Center.

The center occupies 52,000 square feet and accommodates approximately 75,000 calls a year. It is 911 emergency response for New York City and is used extensively for interfacility and critical care transports.

The pale yellow tags mark system hospitals. The bright green tags show ambulance locations. Ambulance positions are followed using GPS technology.

The Center occupies 52,000 square feet and manages 75,000 calls a year. From here, the regional H1N1 (swine) flu outbreak was managed. 23,000 doses of Tamiflu were ready in stock.

High school students with Facebook accounts were made aware, and told, that for the best care, "go to LIJ".

The Control Center is state-of-the-art. The center screen shows a Long Island map and ambulance positions. The screen to the far left shows a traffic camera. The others are broadcast news.
